Your little one is priceless.

Updated: May 9, 2023

South Wales Newborn Photographer's top question every client should be asking before booking their newborn photoshoot.

9 times out of 10 a newborn enquiries will start "How much is a Newborn session?" Obviously we need to know the cost of hiring a Newborn photographer, so we can budget for those photos we will forever look back on with delight.

But have you stopped to ask yourself...

Is your newborn Photographer trained in Newborn posing by a qualified Newborn photography trainer?

If you don’t know, you really need to ask!

This is the most important question you should be asking ANY photographer you are considering hiring to take photos of your new baby as a newborn. So, put this question right at the top of your list. In fact, it needs to be in bold and underlined. You are handing your newborn over to a stranger, to soothe, pose and create those everlasting memories for you. Take two minutes and ask them which qualified Newborn Photography trainer they have trained with and when. Just a heads up for you, for safe practice, the training should be done on a yearly rotation.

Even though there is no legal requirement to complete any training, yes you read that right, so let’s take a moment to put that into context… A complete beginner who has never held a baby or a camera, can set themselves up as a newborn photographer, scary isn’t it? This shouldn’t not be the case, a new baby is far too precious. It’s not a wise move to hire an untrained Newborn photographer, even if they have years of experienced, they wont know the risks and unknown to them could be putting baby in an unsafe situation. “PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK”, and YES! I am shouting, so much can go wrong in inexperienced hands. I believe I am amongst the minority of newborn photographers who spends thousands of pounds on face-to-face training and will continue to do refresher courses yearly to ensure your little one is in the safest of hands.

Remember, your little one is priceless

A specialist trained newborn photographer will have heavily invested in their business and will be proud to share with you their accomplishments, answer your question and will confidently provide you with any evidence you request. We are lucky in this day and age to have google at our finger tips and phones, making it easy for us to research those necessary checks before hiring a newborn photographer.

Don’t be fooled, online training and being a Pro or a regular Banpas member are not enough for your precious baby. Ask yourself, would you hire an electrician to wire your house having received all their training from you tube? Thought not! So much can go wrong!

Hiring a photographer who has received hands on training by a qualified Newborn specialist photography trainer will be the safest possible outcome for your new baby. There is only a very small handful of qualified specialists newborn trainers in the UK, and because hands on training will guarantee the best method, I am proud to call myself a trained Newborn Photographer, who has been trained by a qualified newborn photographer trainer. I travelled over 130 miles to be trained by one of the best in the industry, Tracy Willis, and it is the best investments I made for my newborn clients.

Newborn safety is paramount, you are hiring a photographer who you must trust with your precious new baby.

Your baby is too precious for inexperienced (unsafe) hands.
